What if my teen refuses to see a medical professional?

"Sometimes young people who show signs that they are planning suicide will not agree to visit a doctor, a counsellor, or other health professional.

This can be very stressful for concerned family members and friends who recognise that professional help is required. In some instances the individual at risk will agree to visit a health professional if an offer is made to accompany them there.

Alternatively, concerned family and friends can ring the doctor themselves, or contact the local Mental Health Crisis Team for guidance (often known as CATT Teams - see the 'Hospitals and other health service providers' section in the front of your phone book)."
